BASIC ENGLISH LANGUAGE TRAINING FOR MASSAGERS PROJECT AT CHIANG MAI WOMAN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION

Language Institute Chiang Mai University and Student Development Division of Chiang Mai University, in collaboration with Chiang Mai Woman Correctional Institution and International Affairs Office, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University had run a basic English language training for massagers project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Rajasarini Siribajra’s Enhancing Lives for Female Inmates: ELF at Chiang Mai Woman Correctional Institution for 31 detainees during June 17th – July 19th, 2024. The project aimed to enhance quality of life and create their chance of employment after acquittal. Also, this project helped them to bolster confidence in communication with foreigners, be capable of working in hospitality industry, and also be prepared for new beginning in the outward. The project had provided a 30-hour classroom course lectured by a foreign teacher and a 16-hour, self-learning course with e-Learning materials: video and voice media. The project team has anticipated that the trainees would create confidence in English language usage and broaden the skills for their future careers.

Besides, the project team was honoured to have Air Chief Mashal Somkid Sukbang, H.R.H.’s personal senior chamberlain 908 and committee vice-chairman of the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Rajasarini Siribajra’s Enhancing Lives for Female Inmates: ELF, to award the trainees certificates on July 12th, 2024.
